About Idealstor
Idealstor was founded in 2002 by Nezzen Systems in Gaithersburg, MD. Nezzen Systems was a leading
technology service provider that delivered outsourced IT, network management and disaster recovery
planning. The need for Idealstor came directly from our clients. As a value-driven system integrator
we heard our clients express a lot of frustration when it came to backing up their systems. These
frustrations were in the area of time needed to do the backup, unreliability and the headaches related
to maintaining tape backups.
Our commitment to serving the needs of our clients led us down the path of searching for a backup
system that was fast, reliable and most importantly, did not require tape backup. At that time NAS
and SAN were in their infancy and hard drives were starting to make huge advances in capacity.
Rather than recommending disk to disk to tape backup for our clients, we set out to develop an
entirely new method of backing up data.
Idealstor LLC and the Idealstor Backup Appliance were launched in 2003. The goal of Idealstor was
to take away the headaches associated with backup by using disk like tape as removable and offsite
storage media. Since our founding in 2003, Idealstor has expanded its product line to include IDE
and SATA based ejectable backup systems, the FrankeNAS line of backup and storage products and Ibac
Data Protection Software.
Since the beginning, our goal has been to offer the most flexible and easy to use backup system on
the market. Today we stand by that commitment and provide customers with hardware that can be used
with today’s common backup applications like Backup Exec, Brighstor or Bakbone. Our software can be
used with our system or with any Windows server for local scheduled backups, continuous data
protection, or real time backups. Idealstor offers a fresh alternative to tape backup that is user
friendly and encompasses backup/restore, continuous data protection, disaster recovery and high
availability. We are the only single source vendor for all of these solutions and offer you a single
point of contact for your disaster recovery needs.
